How Second Sun collects, uses, and protects your information
Last updated: June 23, 2026Second Sun is a stroke and brain injury survivor support platform created by Shawn Springs, a stroke survivor of 12 years. Our app provides an AI companion (Sol), milestone tracking, mood check-ins, chair yoga resources, and caregiver connection tools to help survivors and their caregivers navigate recovery.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use the Second Sun mobile application and related services. By using Second Sun, you agree to the practices described here.

Important: Sol is powered by a third-party AI service. When you use Sol, certain information is sent to that service to generate responses. You will be asked to consent to this before using Sol for the first time.
Anthropic, Inc. — Sol is powered by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic, Inc. (anthropic.com).
What is sent to Anthropic when you use Sol:
This data is transmitted to Anthropic solely to generate Sol's responses. Anthropic's own Privacy Policy governs how they handle data processed by their models.
Sol is a supportive companion and is not a medical provider. Sol does not provide medical diagnoses, treatment plans, or clinical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions related to your recovery.
Your data is stored in Supabase, which provides encrypted storage with row-level security controls. This means your data is only accessible to your own authenticated account and to caregivers you have explicitly connected with.
AI consent preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and are tied to your user account.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Data is deleted immediately upon confirmation.
Second Sun is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@secondsunapp.com and we will delete that information promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
Your continued use of Second Sun after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
